The bank closed its Oconto branch last December, after the building and assets were pur- hased by Stephenson ational Bank of Marin ette, which has offices i Oconto. Oconto High School irls cross country and track standout Whitney Olson placed second in her age division in the recent Marinette 5K Run.

Olson, who will be a senior at Oconto this fall, was timed in 23:00 in the female 17-19 age division. Borneman, son of William Bornem an of Oconto, has been romoted to the rank of ajor in the U.S. Army Reserve Military Police Corps. He was commissioned as an officer in he Army in June of 1979, after graduating from niversity of Florida with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Barn quilt installed at Baye farm CONTRIBUTED PHOTO ABarn quilt was installed in June at the Baye farm, 2536 Logtown Rd. in Oconto as part of the Barn Quilts of Oconto County project. Owner Julie Baye has lived there since 1997 and raises beef cattle. The farm was bought from Banker mith by Alexander Cota and is believed to have been built in the 1950s. The south addition was built in the late 1960s, and he Cota family received a government grant to turn the wetlands there into farmland.

The Bayes are currently planning to convert the farmland back into wetlands once they retire. The barn quilt block is called Summer Star.
